LIRRMontauk Branch Changes This WeekendThis weekend, 2/29-3/1, there will be significant service changes on the Montauk Branch due to critical work on Meadowbrook Substation and new Massapequa Pocket Track. Trains that normally operate to/from Jamaica will continue to do so. Most other trains will be extended to/from Hicksville to connect with Ronkonkoma or Huntington trains. A few trains will require passengers to board buses between Rockville Centre and Babylon, adding up to 45 minutes of additional travel time. To avoid busing and delays, use alternate branches this weekend. The Meadowbrook Substation Replacement Project will provide increased 3rd-rail power for our electric fleet and the Massapequa Pocket Track will facilitate turning trains east of Massapequa, increasing service flexibility and improving reliability.
